Close the U.S. Board of Education

Petition to Close the U.S. Department of Education and Eliminate Federal Influence in Schools

We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, urgently demand the closure of the U.S. Department of Education and the complete removal of federal influence over our nation’s schools.

Since its establishment in 1979, the U.S. Department of Education has imposed centralized policies, regulations, and mandates that undermine local control, parental rights, and the diverse needs of students.

Federal involvement in education has led to bureaucratic overreach, one-size-fits-all standards, and excessive administrative costs, diverting resources from classrooms.

We believe education is best managed by states, local communities, and families, who are most attuned to their students’ needs.

We therefore demand that Congress and the President:

1. Pass legislation to permanently close the U.S. Department of Education.

2. Eliminate all federal regulations, mandates, and funding programs that influence or control state        and local education systems.

3. Return full authority over education to states and local communities, ensuring schools are free            from federal oversight or interference.

By taking these actions, our leaders will restore local control, empower parents, and prioritize the education of our children over federal bureaucracy.

Signed,

We the People
